Vivo announces NEX series, the bezel-less phones with elevating front camera

June 13, 2018 By Anish 1 Comment

Phone manufacturers are pushing boundaries to deliver compelling screen display to users. After the Notch, the bezel-less display seems to be the trend for the future. Although there are already phones with almost no bezels, Vivo NEX series phones take this to the next level. There are two phones in the NEX series, the NEX Ultimate and the NEX.

The NEX Ultimate is a bezel-less phone with 91.24% screen-to-body ratio. Once again Vivo takes a lead in delivering an industry first, this one comes after the Vivo X21 that features an in-display fingerprint sensor. The screen size of the phone is 6.59-inches with AMOLED display. The highlight of the phone is the elevating 8-megapixel front camera that hides in the body of the phone.

To reduce the bezel, Vivo also replaced the traditional earpiece speaker entirely with its screen SoundCasting Technology by turning the screen into a speaker. This phone also features the in-display finger-print sensor. Powering the phone is the latest Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB RAM and comes with the storage options of 128GB or 256GB. The primary dual-cameras are 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel. It also incorporates AI technology in the camera like AI Scene Recognition, AI HDR, AI Filters and AI Photo Composition. Vivo has its own voice assistance called Jovi.

The other phone in the series, the NEX, featuring a Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The phone is powered by 4000mAh battery and runs on Android 8.1 with FunTouch OS 4. The phone, however, is currently available in China.
