Google has added Aadhaar Verifiable Credentials support to Google Wallet in India, allowing users to store their Aadhaar ID directly on their Android devices.
Built on Google’s existing partnership with UIDAI, the integration supports selective disclosure, meaning only the relevant identity details are shared with a verifying party. Google says security, privacy, and interoperability are core to the implementation.

Additionally, the Aadhaar Verifiable Credentials will work with partners like PVR INOX, where users can verify age for movie tickets and unlock rewards; BharatMatrimony, for verified ‘Prime’ profiles; and Atlys, for auto-filling international visa applications. Mygate and Snabbit are listed as upcoming partners, covering community access verification and gig-economy worker checks respectively.
Google is also expanding its ID pass feature — a digital ID based on passport information — to Singapore, Taiwan, and Brazil. The ID pass lets users verify their identity or age for in-person and online services via Google Wallet.
