SanDisk intros SSDs for tablets and ultra-thin notebooks

SanDisk U100 SSD

 

SanDisk has unveiled couple of new SSDs that can be used in upcoming ultra-thin notebooks as well as tablets. The U100 SSD is aimed for use in ultra-thin notebooks and comes in capacities starting from 8GB to up to 256GB. The U100 supports the SATA III interface and boasts a sequential read speed of up to 450MB/s and write speed of 340MB/s. SanDisk will provide the U100 SSDs in variety of form factors, including Half-Slim SATA SSD, mSATA, mSATA mini, 2.5” cased and customized modules.

The iSSD on other hand, can also be integrated in ultra-thin notebooks but is more inclined towards the use in tablets. The i100 iSSD is the smallest and the fastest 128GB SSD that supports SATA III interface and gives a sequential read/write speed of 450/160 MB/s respectively. The iSSD storage capacity ranges from 8GB to 128GB.

SanDisk is currently sampling both the SSDs and is slated for mass production in Q3 2011.
