Apple has expanded its Self-Service Repair program for MacBook Pro and iMac models powered by M3 processors. This initiative provides customers with access to repair manuals, genuine Apple parts, and tools previously exclusive to Apple Store locations and Authorized Service Providers since April 2022.
Apple introduced Apple Diagnostics for Self-Service Repair, enabling users to troubleshoot MacBook Pro and iMac models powered by M3 processors in the U.S. starting early next month. This feature allows customers to test device functionality and identify parts that may require repair, aligning their capabilities with professional repair providers.
Moreover, Apple is enhancing the System Configuration process for all Mac models to streamline repairs and increase efficiency. This update eliminates the need for users to contact the Self Service Repair support team for the final repair step, although support remains available if required. The improved process will be accessible in all countries supporting Self Service Repair from early next month.
The expansion of Self Service Repair reflects Apple’s commitment to broadening repair accessibility, which contributes to prolonging product lifespan—a benefit for users and the environment. While Self-Service Repair caters to experienced users, those lacking expertise are encouraged to seek assistance from certified technicians at professional repair providers using genuine Apple parts.
Over the past five years, Apple has significantly increased its service locations offering genuine parts, tools, and training. This includes over 5,000 Independent Repair Providers and a global network of approximately 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers, demonstrating Apple’s dedication to enhancing repair options for its customers.
