It was in April 2014 when WhatsApp had announced that they’ve surpassed 500 million monthly active users and just under two years, the Facebook-owned service has announced that over 1 billion users use their service monthly, making them one of the widely used service across the globe.
Needless to say, this is an impressive feat that started as a means to connect with friends and family and is now used almost everywhere with so many users using it effectively to work with their customers or use it to spread their message across, in case of an emergency.
WhatsApp has been ad-free since it’s inception and most recently waived off the $1 annual fee for every WhatsApp user.
Facebook bought WhatsApp for a huge sum of US$19 billion in 2014.
