Apple has announced the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the first iPhone models with aperture control. Both phones are expectedly better than their predecessors, with a faster and more efficient processor, a smaller Dynamic Island, and improved battery life.
Both iPhones are powered by the 2nm-based A20 Pro, which features 50 percent more memory bandwidth and a significant graphics and processing boost compared to the A19 Pro. The A20 Pro also features a new dual 16-core Neural Engine for on-device AI and computational photography, doubling the AI processing power of the A19 Pro.
On the camera front, the 48MP Fusion Main camera brings aperture control. Equipped with six laser-cut blades makes transitions across different apertures easier, allowing you to adjust depth of field and lighting automatically or use variable aperture control for manual adjustment. The phone now supports upgraded Photographic Styles, Cinematic effects after video capture, and up to 4K and Dolby Vision HDR support in Time-lapse mode. The phones also support Apple Reference Image, letting users verify photo authenticity via signed sensor data.
The iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max will come in color options of black, silver, glacier, and burgundy, with the storage option starting from 256GB and going up to 2TB.
The phones can be pre-ordered from Sep 12, with availability from Sep 18. The pricing of the iPhone 18 Pro starts from $1,199 in the US, whereas it will start from Rs. 1,64,900 in India; the iPhone 18 Pro Max will start from $1,299 in the US and Rs. 1,79,900 in India.
