Apple has unveiled iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. Apple has chosen a passport-like form factor that gives the phone much-needed compactness and makes it easier to carry around, with two displays.
Speaking of the screens, the iPhone Duo comes with a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display that uses a nano-texture finish design to reduce glare and minimize crease visibility. The displays support Super Retina XDR technology, ProMotion, Always-On, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits.
Durability is a key criterion for any foldable phone, and Apple claims the iPhone Duo is built from grade 5 titanium and boasts an IP68 rating to protect it against water and dust. There’s Ceramic Shield on the back and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front that gives up to three times better scratch resistance.
The camera system centers around the 48MP Fusion Main sensor with an integrated 2x optical-quality telephoto and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide sensor. The camera supports 4K recording at 120 fps with Dolby Vision support and introduces Smart Take feature that automatically captures photos when the subjects are posing.
The iPhone Duo is powered by the all-new A20 Pro chip that also powers the new iPhone 18 Pro lineup, along with a custom vapor chamber cooling system to keep the device cool during performance-intensive tasks.
Additionally, iOS 27 on the iPhone Duo supports Split View multitasking that lets users run two apps side-by-side on the inner display and in the future, will support the Apple Pencil for note-taking and sketching.
The iPhone Duo storage remains the same as the iPhone 18 Pros, which starts at 256GB and goes up to 2TB. However, the pricing of the Apple foldable phone starts at $1,999 in the United States and a whopping Rs. 2,99,900 in India. It will be released on October 23, with pre-orders opening on October 16.
