Concerned with the jailbreak that enabled users to play game backups right from their hard drives, Sony has released v3.42 firmware patching the exploit. The firmware doesn’t add any new features but it’s a compulsory update for those who want to access PlayStation Network.

Users who don’t want to lose the jailbreak capability should steer away from the update until an upgrade to the jailbreak arrives.
