Apple tablet PC rumored to be delayed by second half of 2010, will have OLED display


The great Apple tablet rumor has sprung back again. This time it comes from Taiwan where Digitimes cites sources from component makers. Apparently, according to them the rumored tablet PC will be launched in the second half of next year because Cupertino giant planning to integrate an OLED display. The 9.7-inch OLED panel will be provided by LG Display while Foxconn and Pegatron will act as manufacturers, one for a 9.7-inch tablet with OLED while another one for 10.6-inch with TFT LCD.
The report also speculates about the price. Since the OLED panels cost more than TFT LCD, the retail price of an OLED equipped tablet is expected to be an outrageous $2,000 while the TFT LCD equipped will cost around $1,000.
