Apple announces iPhone OS 3.1, iTunes 9

UPDATE: iPhone OS 3.1 is available for download.

Apple today announced OS 3.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch users. In addition to bug fixes, the OS now includes Genius recommendations for the App Store and ringtones that could be bought from the store for $1.29 each. The OS will be available for free to iPhone and iPod Touch with 3.0 users.

Apple also announced iTunes 9 that comes brings in lots of additions like:
- Genius Mixes that plays songs from user’s library continuously
- Improved syncing
- Apps management enabling iPhone/iPod Touch user to arrange home screen icons right his computer
- Home sharing allowing user to copy songs, movies to five authorized computers
- Redesigned App Store
- iTunes LP, which for extra bucks gives user music along with photos, liner notes etc.
- Sharing on Facebook or Twitter
