Sony announces PS3 Slim; classic PS3 gets a price cut [Updated w/ Indian price]

UPDATE 2: Sony India has announced the price cut too. Indians can now pick up 80GB PS3 for Rs. 19,990 with two free games – Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and GT5 Prologue. Not a bad deal.

At the Gamescom Cologne, Sony officially unveiled the PS3 Slim. The Slim will consume 34 percent less power, is 33 percent sliimmer and boasts all the features of PS3 plus 120GB HDD. It will be available in early September for $299/€299/¥29,980.
As for the original/classic PS3 (80GB) is concerned, Sony has given it a price cut and brought to the same level of PS3 Slim. 160GB SKU will sell for $399.
