It seems Toshiba will swallow the HD DVD defeat and finally embrace the hi-definition Blu-ray format. Japanese newspaper Daily Yomiuri is claiming that Toshiba will release a BD player by the end of this year. If that’s not all, Toshiba will also have an additional offering to give to its homeland, a BD recorder. Yup, it’s still a rumor but all this looks plausible. After all, till when can Toshiba be left out when most of its competitors offer BD players coupled with their HDTVs? Also, developing a new format again could not be a good decision because if it fails, it can hamper its image as well as the financials.
