HTC Sense to come on future WinMo phones, TouchFLO 3D to bid adieu?

June 24, 2009 By Kunal Gangar 2 Comments

Just in case you were caught up with something more important and missed the hottest tech news of the day, then you should know that HTC announced its third Android phone dubbed as Hero. The announcement of Hero is as important as HTC Sense which also launched along with it. Sense is HTC’s new UI that will be make its debut on Hero.

To give a gist of the new UI, it tries to give a holistic approach concentrating on three areas – Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected. All the three areas come together and work in a way that allows the user to do a lot of things like customize homescreen with different widgets, scenes profile to customize around some functions or particular time, sorting the contacts efficiently so that not a single conversation via any medium is missed and much more.

This looks to be the new age UI but the interesting fact is that it will be seen in future HTC Windows Mobile devices too. HTC WinMo devices predominantly run TouchFLO 3D and with Sense claiming to be the future, will HTC retire TouchFLO 3D in lieu of Sense? Well, it seems so.

We can already see some elements of TouchFLO 3D in the new UI and also John Wang’s statement to Networkworld that the new UI took around three years to develop (which by the way is before the launch of TouchFLO 3D), suggest that TouchFLO 3D was used only as a stepping stone.

  1. Mobile Developer says

    July 2, 2009 at 10:38 am

I have always admired HTC for the top-notch technology devices, but I think I did not fully understand their software development abilities and genius. I think I finally get it… they let others such as windows mobile and android create the core operating system and they develop the hardware that everyone wants and the UT’s that make everything come to life. Simply genius.
