Nintendo’s cat and mouse game continues with the piraters and the homebrew developers. If the software update was not enough to curb piracy, Nintendo has updated the Wii optical drives to make the modchips non functional. Modchips are used to bypass protection so as to enable the gamer to play different region games, backed up games and even install homebrew easily. Now with these drives integrated a new drive controller chip, modders will have to scrutinize to check if their Wiis fall under the same serial number range. This updated Wii was found in Australia with the serial number LAH1098xxxxx.
