Nikon has announced a new entry level DSLR camera, Nikon D40. This light on pocket DSLR packs a 6.1 megapixel 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens, image processing engine for enhanced quality of pictures and is able to shoot 2.5 frames per second. It also boasts a 2.5-inch color display, SD Card support and includes 3D Color Matrix Metering II for exposure control. The D40 is the smallest and lightest in its category and will cost $600.
