Airtel launches Xstream to gain strong foothold in digital entertainment

Airtel, the telecom giant announced its converged digital entertainment offering, Airtel Xstream. With data usage surging in India, consumption of entertainment on mobile devices and Smart TVs is increasing. Airtel has launched three Xstream offerings like the Xstream Stick, Xstream Box and Xstream App and Web access.


The Airtel Xstream Stick is a single subscription-based plan running on Android 8 OS, features built-in Chromecast and uses a 1.6Ghz processor. Xstream Stick provides access to 10,000 movies and shows from content partners like ZEE5, Hooq, Hoi Choi, Eros Now, HungamaPlay, ShemarooMe, Ultra and Curiosity Stream. It also provides access to millions of songs from Wynk. The Airtel Xstream Stick will also provide access to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and other Google Playstore applications. The bundled remote control of Xstream Stick comes with voice-enabled search feature and Bluetooth 4.2. The price of the device is Rs. 3,999. However, the resolution that the Airtel Xstream Stick delivers is unknown. If you are an Airtel Thanks Platinum and Gold customer, you get a complimentary subscription plan. All other customers get free access to the content for the first 30 days and will have to pay Rs. 999 for the annual plan. The Airtel Xstream Stick is available online on Flipkart as well as other offline retailers.

Airtel Xstream Box
The next device is the Airtel Xstream Box, powered by Android 9, the Airtel Xstream Box is a 4K Hybrid Box that supports satellite TV and digital content to stream on your TV. The device features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and also have Chromecast built-in. Besides the conventional TV channels plan, the Airtel Xstream Box comes pre-installed with Airtel Xstream app that features content like the Xstream Stick. It also provides access to Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Airtel Store. The universal remote control bundled with the Xstream Box provides Google Assistant based voice search and hotkeys for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. The Xstream Box is priced at Rs. 3,999 with one-year subscription complimentary worth Rs. 999.

All existing Airtel Digital TV customers can upgrade to Airtel Xstream Box at a special price of Rs. 2,249 only. Airtel Xstream Box is available starting today across leading Airtel retail stores, airtel.in and top e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Amazon and electronic retail chains like Croma and Vijay Sales.

Airtel Xstream app is a revamped version of Airtel TV app. The refreshed app has a new User Interface and much sharper content discovery with a recommendation engine. Airtel Xstream app features content catalog with over 400 LIVE TV channels and 10,000 plus movies and shows from content providers like ZEE5, Hooq, Eros Now, HungamaPlay and more.

Airtel customers can also access Airtel Xstream content on the web by logging onto www.airtelxstream.in, which offers a convenient way to watch LIVE TV, movies, and shows.
