Intel Core M Reference Tablet Hands-on

Like ever year, Intel India hosted the Intel Technology & Innovation Tour that showcases Intel’s latest innovations. I have been attending the tour for the past couple of years and quite frankly, this year seems to be a good one for Intel considering the number of products displayed from a number of global players like Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and home grown companies like iBall, Croma, Flipkart and Notion Ink. Intel also demoed technologies like Oculus Rift, 3D printing and SD card sized Edison.

More importantly, Intel also showcased it’s first reference tablet based on its latest Core M Llama Mountain family.

As the term suggests, reference tablet serves just as a reference to other tablet manufacturers but one thing evident from Core M is the emphasis on thinness. The tablet pictured here is about 7mm thick.

The device boasts a 12-inch display with QHD resolution and adopts a 2-in-1 form factor with a detachable keyboard along with a touchpad for a laptop-like experience.

Intel further promises to improve graphics and processing while at the same time reduce the power consumption and increase battery life.

Expect a lot of Core M powered products to be announced early next year, presumably at the CES.

  • Intel introduces 8th Gen Core chip with AMD Radeon graphics
  • Intel announces 6th generation Core processor
  • Intel Compute Stick now available in India for Rs. 9,999
  • Intel Edison is a computer housed in an SD Card
