Asus has announced a new motherboard series in India that with a switch of a button instantly unlocks cores of an AMD processor. The motherboard supports Phenom II, Athlon II and Sempron 100 Series processors and comes with ATI CrossFireX, DX10.1, SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 support.
The USP however, is its Core Unlocker feature. By turning on a switch on the motherboard, it activates the latent AMD CPU cores, effectively increasing performance to support intensive processing or multitasking. Additionally, it also comes with a GPU Boost tool that instantly overclocks the integrated GPU.
Asus is selling two motherboards – one with USB 3.0 and one without. The one with USB 3.0 will cost Rs. 12,500 and the other with only USB 2.0 will cost Rs. 10,500. The prices are without taxes.
