Panasonic launched a fleet of point-and-shoot cameras including the new Lumix DMC-FX48. The FX48 12.1 megapixel shooter oozes a host of features that are worth boasting off. It has a 25mm ultra wide angle LEICA DC lens coupled with 5X optical zoom which makes it equivalent to 25mm to 125mm angle on a 35mm film camera. Other features it includes are a 2.5-inch LCD screen, macro zoom to take closeup shots, 720p HD video recording, Venus Engine V for low power consumption and Panasonic’s proprietary Intelligence Auto (iA) mode that adjusts almost every setting automatically leaving user to just click pictures.

The iA houses host of other features like Mega O.I.S for image stabilization, ISO control, Face Detection, Intelligent Exposure, Intelligent Scene Selector and AF.

The face detection helps the camera to recognize faces, making it easy to increase exposure and AF on a single person. If the same person appears in many photographs, the camera prompts the user to register the face. Now the registered face will gain special privilege with exposure and AF priority. Age input during registration will make the camera to automatically shift to different scene mode – for instance, when children less than three years-old are registered, the camera will automatically switch to the Baby scene mode when the child is in the frame.

FX48 will go on sale from April 2009 in Black or Silver for $349.95.

I heard that Cosina has made an adapter for the Leica M lenses to fit on the Lumix 4third GH1 body. Also Novoflex has done the same. Is this true and if so where can I get the adapter. Thank you.
    Regards,
