Rockstar Games has announced a free upgrade path for Grand Theft Auto V owners on last-generation consoles. Beginning today, anyone who owns the PS4 version or the digital Xbox One version of GTA V can move up to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version at no additional cost.
The enhanced versions carry technical improvements over last-gen and offers easy migration of Story Mode and Online progress along with new features, including Hao’s Special Works high-performance vehicles and upgrades and Career Progress rewards.
PC players running the Legacy version of GTA V and GTA Online can switch to the Enhanced version for free, gaining PC-specific features such as ray traced ambient occlusion and global illumination.
GTA+ Members who have not yet played GTA V’s Story Mode can now access it through the GTA+ Games Library, alongside GTA Online.
Rockstar has tied the upgrade to The Kortz Center Heist, a multi-stage GTA Online update arriving in July. The heist targets the Kortz Center, an art gallery in the hills of Pacific Bluffs, and requires players to add an Art Studio to their Mansion property before scouting the location and choosing an approach to infiltrate and escape the grounds.
Ahead of the heist, Rockstar will run preparation events offering bonus GTA, discounts, and rewards through a Fine Art Collector program. GTA+ Members can also look out for an upcoming GTA$2,000,000 discount on Prix Luxury Real Estate properties, while a limited-time offer gives all players 40% bonus GTA on Shark Cards.
