Apple has rolled out two health features in India — sleep apnoea notifications for Apple Watch and a clinically validated Hearing Test for AirPods Pro 3.
The sleep apnoea feature uses Apple Watch’s accelerometer to detect small wrist movements linked to breathing interruptions during sleep. Every 30 days, the watch analyses this data and alerts users if it finds consistent signs of moderate to severe sleep apnoea. Users can export a PDF summary covering up to three months of breathing disturbance data to share with their doctor. The feature is available on Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or Apple Watch SE 3 for users aged 18 and above without an existing sleep apnoea diagnosis.
The Hearing Test on AirPods Pro 3 is based on pure-tone audiometry, the standard clinical method for measuring hearing loss. The test takes around five minutes and works with a compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or iPadOS 18. Results — including an audiogram, a hearing loss classification, and recommendations — are stored in the Health app and can be shared with a healthcare provider. The feature also works on AirPods Pro 2 with the latest firmware.
