Apple has expanded Apple Sports to more than 170 countries and regions, adding over 90 new countries to the free iPhone app. The rollout is just in time to coincide with the FIFA World Cup 2026, which kicks off in June.
The app delivers real-time scores, stats, and a personalised scoreboard. Users can follow the entire World Cup tournament or individual national teams through Live Activities on the iPhone Lock Screen and Apple Watch or score widgets on the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Home Screens.
Three new features ship with the expansion. A tournament bracket view offers a scrollable layout of matchups and results across each round. Visual formations display each team’s starting lineup on enhanced game cards ahead of matches. Lastly, a one-tap link to Apple News connects users to editorial coverage. Apple News coverage is limited to the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia.
The app also lets users jump to the Apple TV app to find live matches on connected streaming services.
