ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) unveils Gaming Monitors with world-first features

May 22, 2024 By News Team Leave a Comment

Asus ROG Gaming Monitors

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced the launch of two innovative gaming monitors, each introducing world-first features. Designed to cater to esports enthusiasts seeking ultra-fast refresh rates and users desiring exceptional color performance and high pixel density. The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG is the world’s first glossy WOLED gaming monitor, while the ROG Strix XG27UCG is the world’s first dual-mode LCD gaming monitor. Additionally, ROG has announced a firmware update for the Swift OLED PG27AQDM.

OG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG

The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG is the first gaming monitor to feature a glossy WOLED display. This innovative panel, combined with cutting-edge OLED technology, delivers vibrant colors, sharp images, and the deepest blacks under any lighting conditions. It offers up to 20% brighter visuals compared to previous generation ROG monitors. Despite OLED displays’ remarkable colors and fast response times, some users may experience flicker when Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is activated due to the electrical control of OLED pixels. This is exacerbated by significant refresh-rate fluctuations and the human eye’s sensitivity to changes in relative brightness, especially in darker scenes. To address this, ROG has introduced Anti-Flicker technology with three levels (Strong / Middle / Off) to stabilize the refresh rate within an optimized range, minimizing flicker perception for smoother viewing experiences.

This 27-inch (26.5-inch viewable) QHD (2560 x 1440) OLED gaming monitor boasts an impressive 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, and NVIDIA G-SYNC® compatibility for superfast, tear-free visuals. Unlike monitors with an integrated power adapter, the latest ROG monitors feature a separate adapter to reduce overall temperature and the risk of burn-in, extending the OLED panel’s lifespan. Additionally, the XG27AQDMG includes a custom heatsink, ASUS OLED Care features to further reduce burn-in risk, and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

For added convenience, the XG27AQDMG has a smaller footprint, minimal desktop space usage, and a built-in phone holder. It has an MSRP of $699 and will be available on May 30, 2024.

ROG Strix XG27UCG

The 27-inch 4K ROG Strix XG27UCG is the world’s first LCD monitor with dual mode, allowing users to switch between native 4K @ 160 Hz visuals and FHD @ 320 Hz visuals via a monitor hotkey. This feature provides the best performance and visuals. The Fast IPS 4K panel with a pixel density of 164 pixels per inch (PPI) and 1 ms GTG response time ensures extreme detail and ultrasmooth gaming visuals for unparalleled immersion. The compact stand of the XG27UCG frees up desktop space and includes a groove for propping up mobile devices. Connectivity options include USB Type-C® Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, and HDMI® 2.1.

The ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG and ROG Strix XG27UCG will be available later this year.

Firmware Update for ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM

The latest firmware update for the PG27AQDM introduces the OLED Anti-flicker feature. The update can be downloaded from https://rog.gg/PG27AQDM_FWupdate.
