Apple launches slew of new products

April 21, 2021 By Manav Leave a Comment

iPhone12Purple
Apart from Apple AirTag, the Cupertino giant launched a slew of new products. Starting with the new colour of the Apple iPhone 12. Yes, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini now will also be available in an all-new Purple colour. While this colour will be more appealing to the fairer sex, this addition takes the colour count of iPhone 12-series to five. Besides this, iOS 14.5 will also be pre-installed on this new coloured device. The new purple iPhone 12 and iPhone mini will be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage capacities starting from Rs.79,900 and Rs. 69,900.

New iPad Pro

Apple launched the new iPad Pro featuring a 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with 5G support. The new iPad Pro now includes support for Thunderbolt. Additionally, an all-new Ultra Wide front camera enables Center Stage, a new feature that automatically keeps users perfectly framed for more engaging video calls.

The power of M1 chip provides iPad Pro with breakthrough performance. It delivers a 50 percent faster CPU performance than A12Z Bionic and up to 40 percent faster GPU performance. This combination of CPU and graphics performance on iPad Pro widens its lead as the fastest device of its kind. Powerful custom technologies, including a next-generation 16-core Apple Neural Engine, an advanced image signal processor (ISP), a unified, high-bandwidth memory architecture with up to 16GB of memory, 2x faster storage, and up to 2TB capacity, make iPad Pro more capable than ever. The industry-leading power efficiency of M1 enables all of that amazing performance along with all-day battery life in the thin and light design of iPad Pro. Because M1 shares the same fundamental architecture of A-series chips, iPadOS is already optimised to take full advantage of the powerful technologies in M1 to easily handle everything from simple navigation to the most demanding workflows.

The new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be available in silver and space grey finishes. iPad Pro is available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at Rs. 71,900 for the Wi-Fi model and Rs. 85,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at Rs. 99,900 for the Wi-Fi model and Rs. 1,13,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

The M1 silicon also makes its way to the all-new iMac. The glamourous iMac is now more compact and slim measuring just 11.5 millimetres thin. The new iMac features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness, and over a billion colours. The new iMac also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, studio-quality mics, and a six-speaker sound system — the best camera and audio ever in a Mac. Also, Touch ID comes to iMac for the first time, making it easier than ever to securely log in, make purchases with Apple Pay, or switch user profiles with the touch of a finger.

The new iMac also now comes with a colour-matching keyboard, mouse and trackpad. Magic Keyboard now has keys for Spotlight, Dictation, Do Not Disturb and emoji.

An additional attraction of new iMac are the colours. Available in green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver — the new iMac design personalizes and elevates any space. iMac features softer colours and thinner borders on the front to allow users to focus on their content, while the back pops in bold, saturated colour. To complete the simplified design, iMac comes with a new power connector that attaches magnetically with a 2-meter-long colour-matched cable.

iMac with 7-core GPU starts at Rs. 1,19,900, and is available in green, pink, blue, and silver. It features an 8-core CPU, 8GB of unified memory, 256GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse.

Apple also announced the next generation of Apple TV 4K. This new streaming device now comes with an all-new Siri Remote, innovative colour balance technology, and high frame rate HDR support. New Apple TV 4K is powered by the A12 Bionic chip that provides a significant boost in graphics performance, video decoding, and audio processing.

The new Apple TV 4K also supports Dolby Vision and a high frame rate. Games can be played at 60 frames per second (fps). Additionally, Apple is also working with leading video providers around the world, including FOX Sports, NBCUniversal, Paramount+, Red Bull TV, and Canal+, as they begin to stream in high frame rate HDR. And with high frame rate support in AirPlay, videos shot on iPhone 12 Pro can be displayed in full 60-fps Dolby Vision on the new Apple TV 4K.

Through an innovative colour balance process, Apple TV works with iPhone and its advanced sensors to improve a television’s picture quality. Apple TV uses the light sensor in iPhone to compare the colour balance to the industry-standard specifications used by cinematographers worldwide. Using this data, Apple TV automatically tailors its video output to deliver much more accurate colours and improved contrast — without customers ever having to adjust their television settings.

The new Apple TV 4K Siri Remote. This new remote features an innovative clickpad control that offers five-way navigation and is also touch-enabled for fast directional swipes. The outer ring of the clickpad supports an intuitive circular gesture that turns it into a jog control — perfect for finding a scene in a movie or show. The remote is crafted out of a one-piece aluminium design for durability and ergonomics.

The new Apple TV 4K will be available starting at Rs. 18,900. The new Siri Remote will be available separately as well for Rs.5,800, and is compatible with the previous-generation Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.
