Redmi 9, Xiaomi’s new budget phone

Xiaomi’s newest entrant in the budget smartphone market, Redmi 9 comes with 4GB RAM and offers a storage capacity of 64GB or 128GB. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 processor and comes with 5000mAh battery.

Redmi 9 features a 6.35-inch HD+ IPS display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display comes with TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification. The rear of Redmi 9 sports a textured design that prevents fingerprints and also houses the fingerprint sensor. The phone also supports face unlock. A successor to the Redmi 8, Redmi 9 also supports dual 4G standby SIM cards with a dedicated microSD card slot and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The camera capabilities of Redmi 9 include a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with LED flash. The front AI selfie camera is of 5-megapixel. Redmi has enhanced the photography experience with features like a kaleidoscope, document scanner and palm shutter.

On the software front, Redmi 9 runs MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box. One of the highlights of Redmi 9 is that it features P2i water-resistant coating to protect the phone against accidental splashes. Redmi 9 also comes with a pre-installed screen protector.

Redmi 9 will be available in three colour variants: Carbon Black, Sporty Orange, Sky Blue across mi.com, Amazon India, Mi Homes and Mi Studios starting 31st August 2020. The retail price is Rs. 8,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant and Rs. 9,999 for the 4GB+128GB variant.
