OPPO’s ColorOS 7 to feature DocVault from Digilocker and new ultra dark camera mode

November 26, 2019 By Anish Leave a Comment

Today OPPO officially announced its next major Android 10 based UI upgrade, the ColorOS 7. Till date, Color OS 7 will be OPPO’s largest OS update plan which will see 20 devices receiving this update. The devices that would receive the update are Reno, Find, F, K, and A-series models.

With Color OS 7 OPPO has focused on near stock-Android experience and lightweight UI. To offer customisation for India, ColorOS 7 will come integrated with DocVault, a digital document holder in partnership with DigiLocker. Currently, ColorOS is used by more than 300 million users. The localisation feature for India was created at OPPO’s R&D center in Hyderabad, India which has more than 250 team members.

Other new features include full icon customisation, Dark Mode, Artist Wallpaper Project, an upgraded haptic design, crisper touch response sounds, new animations for charging, weather, deleting apps and more. ColorOS has also collaborated with Denmark’s audio design company Epic Sound to upgrade the overall sound system. Inspired by nature, the new sound effects provide a more comfortable listening experience, not just for system controls, but ringtones, notifications and beyond.

For improved System performance, ColorOS 7 will feature oFas, which is a mechanism of cache preload for faster opening of apps. There is also another feature called oMem that adapts to user habits, for shifting and allocating system resources accordingly and efficiently. Through this technology, OPPO says that it can boost the utilisation of RAM by 40%. For privacy, OPPO has also integrated a secured folder in the ColorOS where users can password-protect their documents and pictures.

In terms of camera improvements, OPPO introduces new AI Beautification 2.0, Ultra Dark Mode and Portrait Beautification. It will also come with its own video editor called Soloop.

ColorOS 7 will be rolled out across multiple regions like China, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. Starting today, OPPO users can experience the trial version of the same.
