MediaTek today announced new Helio G series chipsets, the Helio G90 and G90T to power smartphone gaming. It also introduced HyperEngine Game technology that paired with the new chipsets will provide enhanced gaming experience.
Helio G90 and G90T combine the latest CPU and GPU cores. They use Arm Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 with Arm Mali – G76 3EEMC4 with speeds up to 800MHz. The new G90 series comes with 10GB of LPDDR4x and up to 2133MHz memory, also a large L3 cache and speeds of up to 2.05GHz. The chipsets support up to the 64-megapixel single camera and multi-camera combinations. For dual cameras, it also supports 24-megapixel and 16-megapixel cameras. Video recording is supported up to 240fps.
Its triple-ISP design optimizes power and performance and also incorporates fast, precise AI facial detection and the power to accelerate AI-camera applications. The processors also support HDR10 format for better picture quality. As per MediaTek, the Helio G90 series supports dual ‘Wake-Up’, this means that the chipsets are powered to listen for more than one trigger word that wakes up virtual assistants such as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
At the launch, Xiaomi’s Global VP and MD, Manu Kumar Jain announced that Xiaomi will launch a gaming device based on the G90T processor.
