OnePlus 5T gets official with a larger screen, face unlock

November 17, 2017 By Anish Leave a Comment

OnePlus 5T

At a mega event yesterday in New York, OnePlus officially announced the updated OnePlus 5 device. The OnePlus 5T is more or less similar but comes with few changes that sets the phone apart from the model that OnePlus launched earlier this year.

OnePlus 5T now comes with a larger 6-inch Optic AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 to give an immersive viewing experience and now supports Sunlight Display that automatically adapts to sunlight for better legibility. In terms of colours, the screen, in addition to default and adaptive, also supports sRGB and DCI-P3 standard.

Since the front is completely covered with the display, the ceramic fingerprint sensor has been repositioned at the back that can unlock in under 0.2 seconds. The phone also comes with the new face unlock feature, which as the name suggests, helps to unlock the OnePlus 5T by just looking at the phone. Only time will tell how secure Face Unlock is or is it comparable to Apple’s Face ID.

The camera has also got a minor upgrade that boasts improved low-light performance, better secondary camera with f/1.7 aperture along with the front facing camera adopting Intelligent Pixel technology for better looking selfies.

Rest of the features remain the same like Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, up to 8GB RAM, UFS 2.1 64GB or 128GB storage and OxygenOS.

The price of the 64GB and 128GB in fact, also remains the same as OnePlus 5 that is priced at Rs 32,999 and Rs. 37,999 respectively. The phone will sell in an early access sale on November 21 at 4.30PM at Amazon India, OnePlus website and OnePlus experience store in Bangalore. OnePlus 5T will be widely available from November 28 in India along with Europe and US.

OnePlus is also bundling some addons with the device like a complimentary 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify if customers download Kotak 811 app and activate the account with an initial deposit of Rs 1,000 in the introductory period, a whopping 1008GB of data from Idea, Rs. 1,500 instant discount to HDFC card users on Amazon.in till 2nd December 2017 and 1 year free membership of Zomato Gold.
