Nokia launches Android phones at MWC 2017

Nokia 6

HMD Global at the MWC made some Nokia smartphone-related announcements yesterday. The three Android phones, namely the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 will run Android Nougat and offer a pure, secure and up to date experience and will all feature Google Assistant.

Nokia 6 is the top-of-the-line phone in the range that comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD screen and is crafted from a single aluminium block of 6000 series making it look premium and solidly built. The phone also features smart audio amplifier with dual speakers that offers deeper bass and supports Dolby Atmos. The fingerprint sensor is located at the front. In terms of imaging, the phone comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera. It’s powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB RAM and comes with 32GB of internal storage (supports MicroSD card up to 128GB). The phone will be available in four colours – Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper – the Nokia 6 will retail at an average global retail price of €229 (approx Rs. 16,000).

HMD will also sell Nokia 6 Arte Black Limited Edition with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. This special edition will retail for around €299 (approx Rs. 21,000).

Nokia 5

The mid-ranger Nokia 5 is also built using the same 6000 series aluminium block with 5.2-inch display screen protected by Corning Gorilla. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, the phone has 16GB internal storage with support for microSD card up to 128GB. The camera on the Nokia 5 is 13-megapixel and the front camera is 8-megapixel. Nokia 5 will be made available in four colours – Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper. The phone will retail at an average price of €189 (Rs. 13,000).

Nokia 3

The last in the series is the Nokia 3. Targeted at budget smartphone buyers, the phone is powered by Mediatek quad-core 1.3Ghz processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The 5-inch screen has 2.5D gorilla glass. The camera on the device is 8-megapixel, both front and rear. The battery is rated at 2650mAh. Colours available are Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue and Copper White – the Nokia 3 will retail at an average global retail price of €139 (Rs. 10,000).
