At the PlayStation Experience 2016 this weekend, Naughty Dog surprised everyone by revealing the sequel of critically acclaimed The Last of Us. Dubbed ‘The Last of Us Part II’, the game will bring back Joel and Ellie to life but this time, Ellie will be the main character unlike Joel from the first part.
While Naughty Dog hasn’t revealed much, the trailer and the PSX panel did reveal some interesting tidbits. For instance, the game is set few years after the prequel and Ellie is 19 years old who vows to kill “last of them”. Who them, you ask? That’s the mystery but we assume to be the Fireflies since the trailer highlights their logo.
Nevertheless, Naughty Dog will share more information and gameplay over the coming months.
According to Neil Druckmann, the second part was conceptualised almost 2 years ago and while he has an idea on when the game will be released, he has refrained from sharing it so as not to build unrealistic expectations. We assume it will be somewhere around 2018.
