Apple announced the next generation of iPhones, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which Apple calls the best and most advanced iPhone ever. As speculated, the new iPhones come with new camera systems for more improved picture quality and performance. The 12-megapixel camera includes optical image stabilisation on both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and a larger ƒ/1.8 aperture and 6-element lens for brighter and detailed photos and videos. Besides this, iPhone 7 Plus features the same 12-megapixel wide angle camera as iPhone 7 and adds a 12-megapixel telephoto camera that together offer optical zoom at two times and up to 10 times digital zoom for photos.

The front camera is now 7-megapixel that supports FaceTime HD with wide colour capture, advanced pixel technology and auto image stabilisation for better selfies. Another highlight of the camera is the new Quad-LED True Tone flash that is 50 percent brighter than the iPhone 6S, it detects the flickering in lights and compensates for it in the captured videos or photos.

Both the iPhones are now powered by Apple A10 Fusion chip. The new chip offers better performance and utilises less battery. The A10 Fusion’s CPU now has four cores, seamlessly integrating two high-performance cores that run up to two times faster than iPhone 6, and two high-efficiency cores that are capable of running at just one-fifth the power of the high-performance cores. Graphics performance is also more powerful, running up to three times faster than iPhone 6 at as little as half the power, enabling a better experience in gaming.

Both phones include support for up to 25 LTE bands suited for worldwide roaming. They now also feature LTE Advance for three times faster data rates than iPhone 6 at up to 450 Mbps.

As everyone expected that Apple will do away with the 3.5mm audio jack and it did. This gives way for stereo speakers that now offer sound that is two times louder than iPhone 6s. The lightning connector now also acts as earphone jack for the new EarPods. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack adapter that allows you to use old headphones. In case you want to keep the lightning port free, Apple has introduced new AirPods. These new wireless headphones are powered by W1 chip and feature efficient wireless communication. One can also access Siri with the AirPods.

In terms of the design, Apple cannot go wrong. However, that said, the new iPhones are similar to the previous generation. Besides silver, gold and rose, the new colours introduced are black and deep jet black. The new iPhones are now dust and water resistant with a rating of IP67.

In terms of the display, the screen size of both the phones remain the same as iPhone 6S. However, as per Apple the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus feature the brightest and most colourful Retina HD display. The home button is also new and advanced.

In terms of the software, both the iPhones will come with iOS 10 pre-installed which is supposed to the major release for iOS. Of course, the iPhones also feature the 3D Touch feature that was introduced from iPhone 6S. The new entry-level iPhone 7 will now feature 32GB of storage and the other options include 128GB and 256GB.

Pricing & Availability
For India, the iPhone 7 range will start from Rs.60,000 and will be available in India from October 7. The new wireless AirPods can be purchased for Rs.15,400 from late October. Besides this, there are host of other accessories that will also be available in India.
