Samsung India has announced the launch of its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the highly competitive Indian smartphone market. Both phones will go on sale from March 18 but interested users can pre-book the device right now and even get a free Gear VR.

At a glance, it’s really tough to differentiate between the last year’s Galaxy S6 family and the new Galaxy S7s but the difference is night and day when you take a deeper look. The new phones are constructed with 3D glass and metal and has curved sides at the back for a superior grip. Samsung has also added IP68 certification making the devices resistant from water and dust.

Talking about the hardware, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have similar features except for the display and battery. The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch display whereas the Galaxy S7 edge features a 5.5-inch display, both boasting Quad HD resolution and a Super AMOLED panel. Samsung has also kept the battery capacity different as the Galaxy S7 has a 3000mAh battery while the Galaxy S7 edge has a 3600mAh.

Both phones are powered by Exynos 8890 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB internal memory and microSD card slot supporting up to 200GB. On the camera side, the rear-facing camera has a 12 megapixel f/1.7 Dual Pixel sensor for brighter and sharper images with Smart OIS and 5 megapixel camera (f/1.7) on the front.

Moreover, the phones run Android 6.0 out of the box and comes with fast charging support on wired and wireless charger, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, fingerprint sensor and heart rate sensor.

The 32GB variant is priced at Rs. 48,900 (Galaxy S7) and Rs. 56,900 (Galaxy S7 edge).
