Android One launch tipped for September 15

Android One is Google’s next major focus and it seems we finally might see some devices heading our way this month. Google India has sent out invites teasing an upcoming event on September 15. While the invite promises to reveal more details closer to the date, NDTV Gadgets claims the event will unveil price and launch details of Android One.

Android One is Google’s initiative to bring Android OS to the masses with hardware partners like Karbonn, Micromax and Spice handling the handset side of things while the software is completely controlled by Google.

The phones will be priced under $100 or under Rs. 6,000 – the price bracket that is already seeing a stiff competition from Asus, Xiaomi, Motorola and many more.
