Asus Transformer Book T100

April 2, 2014 By Kunal Gangar Leave a Comment

Asus T100

Asus’ Transformer range has evolved a lot since the Taiwan-based company launched the range few years back. Today, we’re taking a look at the Transformer Book T100 to see if it’s worth the spend.

The Transformer Book T100 is targeted at consumers who want the best of both worlds – a full-fledged laptop and a tablet and since it tries to fulfill both the objectives, Asus has made the device compact and portable, if not slim.

Transformer Book T100 has a clean design with a 10-inch display and front-facing camera on the front while power, volume buttons, microUSB, micro-HDMI as well as docking ports on the sides.

The dock on the other hand, sports a keyboard, trackpad and a USB 3.0 port to connect a USB flash drive or an external mouse or a keyboard. Although the dock features a chiclet keyboard with good tactile feedback, the keys are small and cramped. Just place the tablet on the dock’s hinge and start using the keyboard. The hinge enables users to tilt the screen but it limits to a certain degree, which is a bit disappointing.

The Transformer Book T100 is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3740 1.33GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM and runs Windows 8.1 and to be honest, it performs well running Microsoft’s latest operating system. The device is apt for multimedia playback, basic surfing or emailing but the only caveat here is not to try and run many processing intensive applications like Photoshop or open many browser tabs at once. On the display front, the device sports a 10.1-inch display supporting a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The display quality is good with good viewing angle, colour accuracy and colour contrast.

Transformer Book T100 is priced at Rs. 34,000 and admittedly, you’ll get laptops with better hardware Asus banks on the fact that it can also be used as a tablet. Also add to the fact that it gives a stellar battery life of around 9 hours. If you’re looking for a tablet + laptop combo that also runs the latest Windows operating system, Transformer Book T100 will give no reason to complain.
