Oregon Scientific brings $150 MEEP! X2 tablet for kids

Kid-friendly tablets seem to be latest trend in the world of tablets as Oregon Scientific has announced their offering – MEEP! X2 tablet. The MEEP! X2 is in fact a successor to the original one and brings a colourful splash-proof and shock-proof design. The Wi-Fi-enabled tablet runs Android OS and brings in children-friendly features with parental controls so that parents know their child’s activities on the device.

The tablet supports Google Play but also incorporates its own MEEP! Store where children can download and purchase apps based on the credits filled by their parents.

Hardware-wise, the tablet is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 2 megapixel rear-facing and front-facing VGA camera and microSD card slot.

The tablet will be available exclusively in US in Toys “R” US stores for $149.99.
