Rumour: HTC designing Amazon-branded smartphones

Amazon-branded smartphone rumours have circulated for quite some time and the latest piece of information comes from Financial Times (login required) who claims HTC is working with Amazon to launch their own branded smartphones. Apparently, there are three devices that are being developed and one of them is in an “advanced stage” of development.

While Amazon and HTC have declined to comment on this report, HTC’s Ben Ho did say they’re “always exploring new opportunities”.

Earlier this year, HTC developed a Facebook phone in partnership with Facebook but the device failed to gain traction due to its limited availability.

The first Amazon smartphone is expected sometime in 2014.
