Amazon has launched two new smart speakers in India — the Echo Dot Max and the Echo Studio — both powered by the company’s AZ3 custom silicon chips and featuring Omnisense, its sensor platform for automated smart home routines. Both devices are available now on Amazon.in and Flipkart.
The Echo Dot Max is the first Echo Dot to ship with a built-in smart home hub. It uses a two-way speaker system comprising a high-excursion woofer and a custom tweeter, and delivers nearly 3x the bass of the fifth-generation Echo Dot. The redesigned audio architecture doubles the internal air space compared to the previous generation. It retails for Rs. 10,999.
The Echo Studio, priced at Rs. 23,999, supports Dolby Atmos spatial sound and combines a high-excursion woofer with three full-range drivers. It comes in a new spherical design with 3D knit fabric. The device runs on the AZ3 Pro chip, the more advanced variant of Amazon’s custom silicon.
Both speakers support wake-word detection, which is improved by nearly 50% over earlier generations and include smart home hubs compatible with Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread, Matter, and Bluetooth. Omnisense uses audio, ultrasound, Wi-Fi radar, and accelerometer signals to trigger automated routines based on presence, motion, and temperature.
Streaming support covers Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, JioSaavn, and Audible. Both devices can pair with a compatible Fire TV Stick for an Alexa Home Theater setup. Amazon has also confirmed compatibility with Alexa+, its generative AI-powered assistant, once it becomes available in India.
