Samsung Galaxy 5 (I5500) gets official in Italy as Corby Smartphone

After a series of leaks, Samsung has made the I5500 official in Italy. It will be sold as Corby Smartphone making it the first Corby device to run a proper smartphone OS. The phone runs on Android 2.1 OS and comes with a 2.8-inch QVGA LCD touchscreen, 3G, quad-band GSM, 600MHz Application CPU, 2MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, Android market and other Google services access, social networking widgets, 1200mAh battery and microSD card slot supporting up to 16GB.

The phone is targeted at the masses and carries a 199 euro price tag. It will arrive in mid-June on TIM and Wind.

  1. The Samsung Genio line is proof enough this the Korean mobile phone giant is bent on conquering the mobile phone world and toppling Nokia off the top. This phone looks like Samsung’s cheapest Android smartphone, the Galaxy 5 i5500, is already selling in stores ahead of official launch.
