Samsung shipping 40nm 32GB DRAM samples for servers

Samsung has started shipping samples of its 40nm-based 32GB DRAM modules apt for servers that require high density and performance at low power consumption. The modules consists of Samsung’s recently unveiled 36 dual-die 40nm class 4Gb DDR3 chips that boast same or better performance as compared to the 40nm 16GB RDIMM modules.

Samsung says, a two-way server can now get a maximum RAM option of up to 384GB as compared to 192GB with 16GB modules. Moreover, keeping the RAM to 192GB would require only six 32GB modules but would increase the performance by 33 percent and lower power consumption by 40 percent.

The 40nm 32GB RDIMM are slated to go into mass production from next month.
