LG OLED TV

15-inch OLED TVs from LG are expected to hit the market by the end of this year but LG today confirmed that they have no intentions to produce larger-sized panels until 2012.

“We plan to produce 30-inch OLED panels for TVs in 2012,” said LG Display CEO Kwon Young-soo.

LG also justified its stance on why are they not releasing OLED powered phones as compared to Samsung who has barraged the market with the same.

“We will focus on TV panels rather than cell phone panels because the larger the display, the more efficient the OLED technology.”

LG’s Display division that registered a second quarter profit is bullish on the OLED tech and will hire around 1,700 people to advance further R&D.
