Sony PSP Go! will come at E3, PS3 Slim later

PSP Go!

Under a week left for the E3 and Ars Technica have got some meaty details from one of their sources regarding the most sought rumors – new PSP and PS3. Apparently, their source who has never gone wrong before claims that the upcoming PSP, dubbed as PSP Go! will be announced at E3 while the PS3 Slim will be out sometime in August or September.

As we guestimated before, the new UMD-less PSP Go! will sell alongside the current PSP generation. Publishers will offer their piece of software on UMDs and also as a digital download to cater to the PSP Go! public. The source did not mention about the specifications but if we recollect from the previous report, it will possess the same graphic hardware, bring in a WVGA touchscreen, 8 or 16GB of storage space and possibly a camera. In short, it will look to compete iPod Touch.

As for the PS3 Slim, their birdie claims it will come after the original PS3 have sold off the shelves. Sony will mostly unveil after retailers are ready to purchase to buy new stock.

I love the look of the Go but im not sure the redesign justifys me buying the new model.
what real advantage over the older version does the newer model have.
theres no UMD-drive so that makes you wonder if the games are going to be downloaded or cartridge based?
guess until the E3 Show when all details are released we wont really know.

Oh please Sony, just drop the idea of the PSP! I realise there are new designs coming out, but they’ve redesigned it for the past 4 years, and still it doesn’t make that much of a good impression.

Consoles have come on from the PSP – it was a gimmick at one point, but now I just think it bores people.

Rather than transforming the PSP, they should work on a new console entirely, something that actually grabs people’s attention.
