Motofone

Motorola is finally understanding the nerves of the Indian mobile phone market. Riding on the success of RAZR and SLVR series which caters to the mid and high segments, Motorola rolls out two phones in quick successions for the budget conscious users. The Motorola FLIP aka W220 and now MOTOFONE which was unveiled a few days ago by Motorola’s Allen Burnes. We were lucky enough to get our hands on it.

To begin with the box, it looks more of a wafer box rather than a mobile phone box. Actually, you can’t expect more when you get a phone at dirt cheap price. The phone somewhat resembles its fully featured sibling, SLVR but the Motofone F3 is slimmer by 2.5mm and lighter because if minimal features.

On booting it up for the first time, you have the option to select from three languages; Hindi, Punjabi and English. You also have the option to activate or deactivate voice assistance. For the display, it has a ClearVision screen or in simple words an e-ink display. The screen is large enough but shows up to two lines of text. The no frill phone has six options in its menu:

1) Write Messages
2) Read Messages
3) Call Record
4) Change Ringtone
5) Set Alarm
6) Adjust Date and Time

For the advanced users, Motorola provides you with codes to change the language, SIM Pin number, keypad lock ON/OFF and much more. We are not sure about the battery life but Motorola touts that this phone has an extended battery life. The phone is priced at Rs. 1650 ($37) and will roll out in foreign markets in the coming weeks.
