Google preparing Chrome OS branded netbook?

Nexus One’s ‘Google or not’ dilemma is far from over and here we’ve another speculation about Google working on its Chrome OS branded netbook. Arrington from TechCrunch claims that he’s heard from multiple sources bout Google requesting for proposal to a company with detailed specifications.
He further claims that competing with Apple is one of the reasons Google wants to work with a single partner to launch its own branded netbook.
There’s no word on the spec sheet but an ARM processor is the current guess and is expected to launch just before the 2010 holiday season.

I have installed Chrome OS on one of my netbooks and the performance of Chrome OS is just okay. there is nothing fancy or very special about it. It was just a sort of GUI version of linux or something.

Chrome OS is just another rebranded Linux GUI, it would be much better if Google came up with an OS that would directly compete with Windows.
