RIM patent for hybrid resistive/capacitive touchscreen

Ask a company and they would give rational reasons so as to why one should go with capacitive or resistive touchscreens. But giving this one of a kind to a consumer defeats the advantages other type of screen has to offer. This is why, Research in Motion has come up with a novel solution.
The latest patent filing from RIM reveals they are looking to come up with a hybrid resistive/capacitive touchscreen display that will give the responsiveness and multi-touch support of capacitive while accuracy and able to type with styluses with resistive. The patent was filed in early 2008 and we wouldn’t be surprised if RIM brings this tech along with the Storm 2.
