Creative sent their first email newsletter regarding Zii today. Creative is emphasizing Zii as ‘Stemcell Computing’, which is nothing but Stem cell-like silicon (chip) that is “able to grow and multiply into different solutions and ecosystems.”
Another statement from the newsletter says that “even in the midst of these turbulent times, you will discover incredible recession-friendly business opportunities that enable you to thrive and prosper.”
So does that mean Creative is about to throw open its Zii technology to others in return for some monetary share? They also claim about investing over 10 years, more than a billion dollars and 10,000 man-years in the R&D department. Such things make things clear (not entirely though) and points out Creative is looking for some way to share the expense.
Sharing Zii with multi-platform vendors will actually fulfill its two main objectives – “Everything you know is about to change” and “Stemcell Computing”. Creative is banking on Zii to cover lots of areas and then grow in them and multiply, just like a Stem cell.
I would leave my speculation now as January 8 is the date when it will be unveiled at the CES. Creative’s fansite is claiming Zii to be an enhanced audio processing chip.
