Google has announced AI-powered eyewear built in partnership with Samsung, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Revealed at Google I/O 2026, the glasses bring Gemini directly to the frame, hands-free and without requiring users to reach for their phone.
The audio glasses activate via a “Hey Google” voice command or a tap on the frame. Gemini handles turn-by-turn navigation using the glasses’ built-in orientation awareness, real-time speech and text translation with pitch-matched audio, and multi-step task execution such as placing a food order on DoorDash while the phone stays pocketed.
The glasses also support hands-free calls, text messaging, and Gemini-powered message summaries delivered through over-ear speakers. A built-in camera captures photos and videos on voice command; an editing feature called Nano Banana allows background removal and image transformations in the same command. Third-party app support includes Uber and Mondoly, and the glasses pair with both Android and iOS devices.
Two frame designs previewed at I/O – one from Gentle Monster and one from Warby Parker — will launch as part of each brand’s full collection. Display glasses, a second category that projects information visually, will be revealed at a later date, presumably after the audio-based glasses launch in fall 2026.
