Huawei launches Watch GT2 starting at Rs. 14,999

Huawei has launched its Kirin A1 powered Watch GT in India. Kirin A1 is Huawei’s exclusive chipset for wearables. Huawei says that the watch lasts two weeks on one charge. This is a tall claim indeed and we will have to test this claim. The watch is available in two variants, 42mm with 1.2-inch AMOLED display and 46mm with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display.

Both the models feature GPS, various sports mode and Bluetooth connectivity. The watch also comes with TruSeen 3.5 heart rate monitoring technology which works while swimming. The watch supports Bluetooth calling functionality and music playback. It can store over 2GB of music. In the fitness tracking front, Huawei Watch GT2 supports 15 sports including eight outdoor sports (running, walking, climbing, hiking trail running, cycling, open water, triathlon) and seven indoor sports (walking, running, cycling, swimming pool, free training, elliptical machine, rowing machine). In terms of heart rate monitoring, the user will be notified if the heart rate is above 100bpm or below 50bpm for more than 10 minutes. The watch is also powered with a sleep monitoring function.

Baichung Bhutia, former captain of the Indian national football team, shared his experience after using the Huawei Watch GT2, “The watch is a perfect companion for fitness enthusiasts like me. It is tailor-made for tracking and monitors physical activities and essentially plays the role of a personal trainer. It comes with an array of customized features for over 15 sporting activities, churning out a wide range of for better monitoring and management of physical health.”

The 46mm Sport variant of the Watch GT2 is priced at Rs. 15,990, the leather variant retails for Rs. 17,990 and the metal variant for Rs. 21,990. This smartwatch is available for pre-booking from 12 December to 18 December 2019. On pre-booking, consumers will get Huawei Freelace wireless earphones worth Rs. 6,999 free. The watch will go on open sale from 19 December. The first sale for the watch will start from 12 AM (Midnight) and customers will get a chance to get the Huawei Minispeaker worth Rs. 2,999 for free. They can also avail the option of No-Cost EMI.


The 42mm variant of the Huawei Watch GT2 will be available for Rs. 14,990. Its availability and offers are yet to be revealed. The Huawei Watch GT2 works on both Android and iOS.
