Review: STM Wireless Power Bank

December 4, 2019 By Anish Leave a Comment

Battery technology in smartphones have improved a lot in the last couple of years. We now have super fast charging and good battery life but there are times where you’re on the road and left without power. Power bank is the ideal solution and although there’s no shortage of power banks in the market, this STM power bank is a little different. It has a unique design but more importantly, it supports wireless charging that frees you from the need to carry your charging cable.

The STM Wireless power bank is a brick-shaped device that features tiny suction cups at the top. As this is also a wireless charger, it features Qi wireless charging technology. This power bank comes with ChargePlus technology that reduces the charging time of the power bank. The capacity of the power bank is 10,000mAh and can be charged via a microUSB cable provided in the box or USB Type-C. There are two USB-A ports of 5V, 2.1A and one Type-C port of 5V, 2.4A.

To charge your phone, all you need to do is just place the phone on the wireless power bank and press the button present on the right side. We tested the wireless charging capability of the power bank by charging Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ and iPhone X. Since both these phones support fast charging, I tested the charge input via the wireless mode, it delivered a maximum of 540mA power. Next, I tested the same with the charging cable, in this mode, the power bank delivered a charging speed of 1140mA. I also tested the OnePlus 7T that features Warp Charging technology with his power bank. The power bank delivered a maximum of 1440mA charging, using its proprietary cable. Another important thing to highlight here is that you can charge three devices simultaneously with the cable – one device wirelessly and two devices with the cable.

As mentioned before, the power bank has suction cups at the top; the idea of the suction cups on the power bank is that if you are charging your phone wirelessly, you do not need to hold the smartphone and the power bank firmly. The suction cups hold the smartphone well, however, I would suggest holding the phone and the charger. One of the gripes that I have from this power bank is that it tends to heat up while charging the phone.

Finally coming to the price and performance. Priced at Rs. 4,799, the STM Wireless Power Bank has fast charging and wireless capability paired with the support to charge three devices simultaneously. If you have a phone that supports wireless charging, and you are willing to spend a bit more for a quality power bank, the STM Wireless Power Bank is a good choice. Additionally, STM also offers a year warranty on the same. You can purchase this power bank from Amazon India.
