Google releases Android 10 with support for foldable devices and 5G

September 4, 2019 By Anish Leave a Comment

Android 10
Google released the next major Android update, Android version 10. The new version supports 5G and Foldable devices, considering smartphone manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei already have foldable devices in the pipeline to be launched this year.

Google has made almost 50 changes related to privacy and security. Besides this there are new features like Smart Reply, that suggests actions for your messages. For instance, if you receive a message with an address or a YouTube video, you can open and navigate in Google Maps or open the video without the need to copy-paste the video URL and opening it. This feature supports major messaging apps.

Android 10 also comes with Dark Theme mode for the entire phone and not just apps. This feature is also coming to the iOS 13 later this month when Apple releases the iOS update.

The new gesture navigation in Android 10 takes advantage of large screen phones with full display. Another highlight of Android 10 is Live Caption that automatically captions videos, podcasts, and audio messages.

Digital Wellbeing that is already available in Android Pie now gets a Focus mode. With Focus mode, you can select the apps you find distracting—such as email or the news—and silence them until you come out of Focus mode.

Besides this, there are new enterprise and privacy features that lets you use different keyboards for your personal and work profiles, app timers for specific websites so you can balance your time on the web, new gender-inclusive emoji, and support for direct audio streaming to hearing aid devices.

Android 10 has been rolled out to Google Pixel devices and Essential Phone. Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro in India and China has released the Beta of the same and OnePlus also released the Open Beta 1 of Android 10 for OnePlus 7 devices.
