Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro launched in India

Realme has announced two devices, the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro in India. Realme 5 series phones are company’s first phones to feature quad camera setup. The Realme 5 which is the lower variant of the series features a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels and has Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The front display houses the selfie-camera in a mini-drop notch. Realme claims that this notch is smaller than the previous ones. For security, the Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro both have rear fingerprint sensor and support face unlock. Powering the Realme 5 is the Snapdragon 665 AIE chipset and makes it the first phone to use this processor in India.

Realme 5 comes in three variants, 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB. The phone supports Micro SD card up to 256GB. The highlight of the phone is the quad camera. The main camera is 12-megapixel with f/1.8 aperture. Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), 10x digital zoom, AI HDR, AI Beauty mode, AI scene recognition and more. The second is a 8-megapixel wide angle lens that supports super nightscape. The other two are 2-megapixel portrait and 2-megapixel macro lens. The selfie camera is 13-megapixel. The phone supports 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080p HD video recording at 30fps.

Realme 5 comes with a large 5000mAh battery and runs on Android Pie based on ColorOS 6. The 3GB version of Realme 5 is priced at Rs. 9,999, 4GB/64GB version for Rs. 10,999 and the 4GB/128GB variant for Rs. 11,999. The phone will be available in Crystal Blue and Purple colours on Flipkart and Realme.com from 27 August.

The top variant, Realme 5 Pro comes in three variants as well, the 4GB/64GB that is priced at Rs. 13,999, 6GB/64GB that will retail for Rs. 14,999 and the 8GB/128GB that is priced at Rs. 16,999. The Realme 5 Pro comes with Snapdragon 712 AI chipset and has a 6.3-inch dewdrop LCD FDH+ display. The difference in camera in Realme 5 Pro from Realme is that the main camera is 48-megapixel which is a Sony IMX 586 Sensor and the selfie camera is 16-megapixel Sony IMX 471 sensor. The battery in the Realme 5 Pro is lower than Realme 5, it is 4035mAh, however, it supports VOOC charging (fast charging technology by OPPO). Realme 5 Pro will go on sale from 5 September on Flipkart and Realme.com Both the devices are splash-proof in normal daily usage but not in situations as claimed by Realme.

Apart from these two devices, Realme also revealed the successor in its X-series, the Realme XT. The Realme XT will be an updated version of the Realme X that was launched recently. Realme XT will feature 64-megapixel main camera as per the company.
